Job Description

The Financial Analyst is responsible for supporting the Senior Financial Analyst for the Metro Ontario Inc. Distribution Centres (DC) in the daily, weekly, and period end reporting of financial and statistical information relating to both Logistics and Distribution.


  • Prepare and distribute weekly and periodic financial reports to senior management (Finance and DC Operations).

  • Update and maintain statistical and financial databases related to both Logistics and Distribution operations, and report on such information.

  • Prepare Labour and Productivity reports and analysis, including investigating payroll variances between Kronos and SAP systems with payroll department.

  • Prepare periodic journal entries and G/L account analysis.

  • Prepare the weekly transportation charges for the Affiliate stores.

  • Work closely with Toronto and Ottawa distribution and logistics Operations to analyze financial results.

  • Coordinate with A/P, A/R and DC to respond to internal or external billing inquiries.

  • Assist with special project work as required, such as budgets, forecasting, analysis, and annual initiatives.

  • Compile Distribution budget information and assist in constructing the Metro Ontario Inc. divisional budget and forecast.

  • Provide variance details to Internal and External Auditors as required.


  • College diploma or University studies in Finance/Accounting and/or currently working toward an Accounting designation

  • 2 – 5 years related work experience

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills

  • Intermediate skills in other Microsoft Office programs

  • Excellent business writing skills

  • Strong financial math and analytical skills
